A philogical study on poisoning and side effects of Zanthoxyli Frautus(花椒)

Abstract

|
Zanthoxyli Fructus is in use in the Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Zanthoxyli Fructus for warming the middie-jiao(溫中), clearing away cold (散寒), and dehydrating dampness (燥濕), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Zanthoxyli Fructus. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are geraniol, skimmianine, citronellol, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Zanthoxyli Fructus mainly can cause stimulating symptoms on digestive system, respiratory system, and nervous system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in the western medicine are promotion of vomiting, washing out the stomach, causing diarrhea, supplies of grape sugar and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Zanthoxyli Fructus, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
